When I installed my AAL kit I bent the clamps out of the way, installed, then tried to bend the clamps back in place. Unless you have a torch to heat them up, you won't be able to bend them back in place properly. I eventually used an angle grinder to cut them off and replaced with a set of U-bolt style clamps from Autozone. I positioned them between what was left of the old clamps and the teflon pads so they can't slide/move towards the center over time.
