Activating Backup Camera while driving

I installed a LockPick on my 2012 F150 to be able to activate my backup camera while in drive so that I could monitor the load on my trailer while driving. I have recently discovered that if I turn off and on my audio within one second that the backup camera comes on. I spoke to LockPick about this and they state that this is not part of their programming.

My question is: Does anyone else's rear view camera activate if you power off and on the audio within one second?

I just tried it on my 2010 Lariat...It did not work.

I had the lock pick on my 2010 and it is absolutely part of their program. You can't access the camera while in drive, hence having the lock pick to give you the ability to do so. Audio off/on real quick just like yours. It's even in the instructions that came with the kit.

Did you guys install the lockpic yourself,or have a shop do it?
I'm wondering how hard it it to take the dash apart??

Is there anyway to make this work with the camera in the mirror? It would be pretty neat, hasn't heard of anybody doing it on the mirror.

I installed it myself. It's not too bad taking everything apart, most of the console pieces and center dash pieces of course....you just have to take your time and manage all the little screws and such. Most of the pieces just require a good tug and they pop off. If you're not comfortable with wiring then I'd have a shop do it as there's some cutting and reconnecting once you get behind the nav screen.

As for in the mirror, I wouldn't think they'd have a set up for that because it's all the things that go along with having the nav screen that's being unlocked.....basically everything while in motion, dvd playing, camera, certain navigation scenarios and such.

I installed the lockpick myself. Just watch the video on their website. It takes a good hour but was not difficult. A lot of parts are disassembled.

Sure...slam it in reverse. Prob only have one shot through... :(

Seriously though, I wish it was an option with the OEM camera. Sometimes I'd really like to take a look at the hitch area, especially when backing up and turning.

OOooo, just found that thread! https://www.f150forum.com/f38/rear-v...-95567/index2/
