ACCIDENT! Need advice (w/ pics)
Hey fellas,
Hope everyone had a great, safe 4th of July.
My F-10 got rear-ended by a Ford Ranger (totaled) yesterday. Luckily, everyone was OK. The girl's airbag probably saved her life.
Here's my question...
I have an insurance appointment scheduled for tomorrow so that they can estimate damage and cut me a check.
Based on the picture provided, what is the least amount I should accept. I am a first-time F-150 owner and have no idea on the costs with these things.
Damage from rear-end collision w/ Ford Ranger
Anyone have experience with truck bed/bumper damage costs?
Thanks so much...
By the way, you should all feel extremely safe in your F-150 trucks.
Despite the Ranger being totaled, my 1 year old son and I barely felt more than a large bump.
Cheers!

You should get an estimate from a body shop you trust, then have the insurance adjuster work with the body shop to iron out the details.
I agree with trying to get new OEM parts instead of used or LKQ parts.
Good luck!

Isn't it a conflict of interest for the other drivers insurance to be doing the estimate? The last time I was hit by someone else my insurance sent an adjuster to do the estimate and then they sent the estimate to the other insurance company.

Yeah who cares what the other insurance says? That is what you pay your own insurance company for. They're the ones that can give you a recommended shop or let you pick one. They handle all communication.

I would notify your company, let them estimate it, let the other company estimate it. If you don't like theirs, file with yours they will subragate the other company, and your premiums SHOULD NOT GO UP!
Best thing is talk to the company and get them to discuss it with the body shop of your choice(NOT Theirs) in situations like this I recommend the Dealer, they will order OE parts no problem, not junk yard crap.
OH and do not sign for anything from the insurance company until after you are happy, you should only have to sign the body shop's ok to procedd with repairs paperwork.
I had a totaled truck last year, and my wife had 3 wrecks not her fault last 2 years, unforunatly, all but 2 had to be settled through my company, in 1 the driver had no insurance, in another the damages to my truck exceeded her policy, and another their company took to damn long to get back with the body shop.
Double check with your company about it's claims policy, but just filing a claim should not reaise your prices, if you are not at fault.
