Default Accelerate & Grind

Hey Everyone-

I have a f150 platinum '09 and I have been experiencing a grinding sound when I accelerate. Typically occurs once I reach 20mph and now occurs at any point faster than that. Like many posts I have read, it occurs intermittently, but I have taken to a couple of folks and the last place I took told me I needed to replace tranny and transfer case. $$$$$ I was driving yesterday and I drove through a puddle and it immediately began. As I read a few threads I am thinking more and more it might be IWE system and vaccum lines, or even the hubs. The only problem is that all examples I have read or researched are problems with earlier model trucks and not with a truck 2008 and later. I changed my solenoid earlier and that wasn't the problem. Has anyone had this problem and successfully had repaired?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

My bet is on the IWE system. Sounds like you are losing vacuum at speed. There are two check valves. One near the intake manifold and one near the IWE solenoid. You should check those.

This may sound stupid but I had a stone in my brakes lodged somewhere as I could not find it and would start sounding terrible above 15-20mph. It was loud.I do not know if u drive gravel but could be issue? Eventually stopped musthave ground out or come out. 13 plat

I will start with check valves and work my way down to possibly bearings. I appreciate the feedback so far. I will update with hopefully an inexpensive solution.
Happy New Year!!

I have a 2010 4x4 lariat with issues like yours from the very beginning of purchase. First they replaced the computer on the transmition which worked for a little while. Then when the noise and vibration returned they put in a new transfer case. Now it has started to make the noise again. This all occurs when the speed gets between 35 and 40 miles an hour. If I am going at a slow speed and have to give it some as to let's say get around someone I hear a slipping kind of squeal in the front case area. I'm taking it in one more time. It will be the last time too as I am not going to be keeping the truck. I really like my truck but what will happen after the warranty is over?

I also had a stone lodged in one of my front wheels, it wasn't a grinding sound, more like a horrible loud screeching sound. I took off the wheel, then the brake caliper, then pulled the rotor off and the rock fell out and all was OK after that.
