Default ABS Abuse...

The brakes in my 2009 Ford F-150 kept locking up on the driver side so I thought it was the brakes. After pulling everything off I found that the pads were fine and since then the drivers side caliper engages on its own and seizes up. When the caliper engages the ABS light comes on, brake light comes on, and the traction control light comes on. I’m at a loss, anyone have any suggestions? I haven’t got a ton of money to spend on dealer mechanics and diagnostics and all the other stuff they want.

Take it to a trusted mechanic. You may very well have rusted brake wheel cylinders plugging up the hydraulic system, usually on the rear. The brake fluid probably needs to be flushed and if you are lucky, that will fix it. When the calipers start pulling like that though - it can get expensive. Been there on our 1996 Ranger plow truck and will be working on it again this summer. The rotors are likely scored, the ABS pump may be an issue too. Good luck.

Thank you. I didn’t want to do anything and void the warranty.
