Default 6spd awd trans

Hello ,

I have a 2011 Limited with a AWD 6spd trans , and was wondering how well it holds up. There is 106,000 miles with no signs of trouble yet.
Do I just rebuild it or should it be tightened up ? I have the 6.2 with plans of having a little fun with it.
I ask the rebuild question more as "when the time comes" and was also wondering about the Transfer case as well.
How well do they hold up ? What can I expect ?

Thanks for your time
Dave

Just for reference, you have the same 6 speed as all the other F150s (6R80). The awd/full time 4x4 feature is in the transfer case.

If there are no issues, why would you want to rebuild it? Any plans for upgrades to the 6.2? The 6R80 trans is rated for about 600 ft lbs of input torque.

Why would you rebuild a transmission with no issues?

The 6R80 is rated for 800ft-lbs of input torque. The people who say the ending digits are for Nm are simply wrong; they're tens of ft-lbs. I got that directly from a Ford transmission engineer.

Usually the 800 means N-m and not ft-lbf. To convert I think it is ~75% so 600 ft-lbf.

Not on Ford transmissions it doesn't. Like I said, I got that directly from a Ford transmission engineer.

Dunno where you found that, but it's wrong about the units. FWIW, the engineer who told me that is a member here, but hasn't been active since 2013. He is active on another Ford truck forum, and has publicly posted about the units there. I'm not sure if it's cool to post links to other forums, but I can PM you a link (if I can find it). (FWIW, he told me about the units on a private forum, not that other truck forum.)

ETA: I found the link.
