Default 60k Miles... time for a wheel bearing?!?! Seriously?

Alright, so the past few nights I have been hearing what sounds like a drivers side front bearing going bad

I have a slight grind/hum when I am driving and the wheels are straight .
When I turn to the right, the noise is GONE.
When I turn the wheel back to the left, its comes back worse than when the wheels were straight.

I haven't done my brake job yet (original pads), but I don't see how that could be making the noise?

Could I really need a new bearing at 60k?

Sounds like it. I had both mine replaced under the extended warranty at about 70k. Starting to hear the same noise again at 90k. Going to take it in to have it checked out.

Could be a bad bearing. All mechanical parts are not created equal. A small percentage will fail early. Add larger wheels and tires and the bearing load increases.

That's the standard Advance Auto Parts hub assembly, but with a coupon I've been saving.

How difficult is it to just replace the bearing ($67)?
Is it worth it?

if you are 4wd you have to replace the whole hub...non serviceable...and use timken or SKF bearings only

If its doing it turning to the left its likely the right side wheel.

More load is on it when its the outside wheel.

I've had this be the case twice for me. Slight growl at highway speed, no noise turning one way, humming howl on a gradual turn, louder at tighter turns at speed.
