6.2 in the Platinum
I know that the late 2010 Raptor is going to be fitted with the 6.2 ltr engine. I have also heard rumors of the Platinum getting this option. Has anyone heard this officially or seen any news stories on this topic? I really would like to know if that is in fact going to happen and if so when the earliest would be before they are able to be ordered? Thanks!
Now I know the 6.2L will be dropped in the Raptor this Fall in 2010 models.
But have yet to hear anything about the 6.2L being dropped in any other F150. The biggest speculation is it'll go into the Harley Davidson, not the Platinum.
Otherwise, it'll eventually replace the 6.8L V10 in the F250/350s. But nhot sure when. Maybe Ford will let people choose the next couple years.

I don't think that was ever the plan, due to fleet average MPG and other (think smaller and not larger) concerns driven by the new politics.
I think the 6.2 will remain an option item for those who tow or haul heavy loads. And yes, I too, think it will ultimately replace the 6.8 V10 in the larger F-series trucks.
But for the rest of us, who two only moderate loads (small to medium size boats) and only on a weekend or holiday and still want a balance of power and relative economy, the 5.4 fits.
Well Ford has the 5.0L Bobcat coming soon. Also the 3.5L EB (V6) that is already in the Taurus SHO. Have never heard the 6.2L would be dropped into the F150 for normal production, only limited edition models. Think depending on the mpg's that 6.2L brings home, it may hurt Fords CAFE rating and why it won't be a normal F150 option.
