As stated above, it's probably the injectors. They do make a ticking sound. If it starts sounding like a PS diesel making lots of noise, the cam phasers are probably the issue. Make sure to always use a quality 5w-20 oil in your 5.4. The cam phasers are oil pressure activated and require this oil. Using any other viscosity oil will throw the cam timing off and eventually will lock the phaser in an advanced position. Damage will occur.

thanks eveybody i was pretty sure it was nothin out of the norm but it a 40k investment lol just makin sure. and yes i use 5w-20 castrol which is a great oil so i dont think that would be it. it has done it from day one but my 98 4.6 didnt make the noise so i was just dubble checking
