Aside from the spanking new truck enjoyment, what are your initial thoughts on the new one, versus your 14 overall. I know it's only been a day, so that's probably a tough question.

How was the deal on your trade? My dealer is constantly trying to get me to trade up.
Mine is a mint 2014 fx4 with 29,000 miles and I know they want it. I'm just not sure I want anything yet...
Nice looking ride btw. Congrats.

I'm just confused why a max tow wouldn't come with tow mirrors? Seems strange to me. Congrats on the new truck dustoff.

Congrats on the new truck!

I pulled my buddy's trailer for the first time a month or so ago. Approx 4000 lbs. Also had a motorcycle, misc gear and half a dozen gas cans in the bed plus 3 occupants (including myself). The Eco pulled beautifully through rolling hills. I could feel the load when accelerating/decelerating from/to full stop but otherwise it wasn't really noticeable.

Fuel economy only went down the equivalent of about 1 MPG compared to city driving which really surprised me. I've got the 3.55 and Duratracs in stock size.

Congrats on the truck! I don't have experience towing with my 13 ecoboost. I did recently have a rental 2016 5.0 and I liked it. One thing that was annoying as hell was the downshifting at highway speeds. At 70 with cruise control set, it would have to downshift going over every overpass. I can only imagine how annoying it would be to tow with the 5.0.

Most 5.0 guys just lock out 6th when towing, so its not annoying at all

Eh still a little annoying, I dont like when cruising on the highway hearing my engine start screaming because of a small hill forcing it to downshift.

Ya this thread is really convincing me to go with the Ecoboost. I don't tow often, but when I do, I tow up into mountains and over a few hills to get to fields.

Mountains and hills are exactly the advantage of the Ecoboost, the only time towing with a 5.0 is as comfortable is on a flat grade with consistent speed, all other conditions and the Eco pulls away, especially at higher altitudes.

I have my 99 F150 right now with a 4.6L and while it tows great. The tiny hills I go over a lot during duck season really crank on my motor. It's rev'd up to 5-6k rpm lol - i hate it. But flat, I never notice I have a trailer.

Eco's are easier to find than 5.0's in used market anyways so this is a good plan.

During deer season, I'm up to about 4500' but it's some steep inclines to get to the top with our tent trailer.

My neighbor tow a trailer almost exactly like this one with a 2013 2WD XLT F150 with the 5.0L engine. He says it's a dog in the mountains or at any altitude. He says he can't even maintain highway speed doing it. He says it struggles to maintain 55MPH in the Ozarks which isn't nearly as bad as the mountains out in Northern Arizona or California. He has a Chevrolet 2500HD crew cab with the 8.1L gas engine which he says pulls like a monster. He'd pull the trailer with his work truck but his wife won't have it because she'd rather ride in something more luxurious. The work truck with the 8.1L engine and vinyl seats just doesn't do it for her.
