5.0 oil consumption?

Luckily I have no issues with mine. Never had the need to add any between changes, which I usually get every 6 months at the dealer since they're "included." I check it weekly anyways and it never changes.

Bought my '13 new 28 months, and 11,000 miles ago. I take it to the selling dealer twice a year for "the works" deal, and I haven't even pulled the dipstick to check it in between. I took one look at that dipstick placement, and decided if Ford wanted me touching it, it would have been put in a handier location. So far, I haven't gotten any service or warning lights, so I'm happy. I really got a chuckle when I read in owners manual about the tranny fluid! These are truly becoming non-serviceable vehicles! Pretty soon, they can just bolt the hood down @ the factory!!

Amen... Those service lights are nice and all, but completely relying on them is a bit silly. 2 minutes of your time to check the most basic maintenance there is on a vehicle. I'll sacrifice that so I continue to have a functioning expensive truck rather than an expensive yard ornament!
Hopefully he was being sarcastic with that post lol.

^ True that... I'm at 28,000 and I don't burn any oil. I change my oil every 4,000 miles.
As far as the dip stick goes. It takes no effort to grab a bucket, toolbox or anything to stand on.
It is what it is.

No, I wasn't. I haven't checked the oil in a street driven vehicle I own in better than a decade. This current truck has 7.7 qts of oil, and only needs about 2.5 to 3.5 to keep the trouble light off- the rest is for extra cooling when really pulling. I treat my trucks better than most(or worst, depending on your veiwpoint), Ride'em hard, put 'em wet, and trade 'em off every few years and start over. That is the current mindset of most of America today- not just me.

I just stand on the tire. Puts me at the perfect height to reach the dipstick.
