Default 5.0 knocking/tapping long term reliability?

I have a 2012 5.0 that has the dreaded tap. I've had the truck since 50k miles, now has 96k. It's done it off and on since day one. However, it has never been very loud and I've just dealt with it. It ran out of warranty before it was more pronounced, of course. I haven't had it checked yet but I know the issue, it's slightly louder as it warms up and more pronounced under passenger side wheel well. Typical symptoms of the oblong cylinder. My question is, if you have this issue, what is your mileage? Any catastrophic failures out there? I've heard of a few people running if for over 200k with no problems and then heard others failing before 100k. Just trying to get a few different responses to see how long these things will last. Since mine has been doing it for so long, I'm sure it will need a long block if I do rebuild so I'm just going to run it until it fails.

Mine tapped all the way up to 375,000 miles. Didn't let me down once. All of my 5.0s tap and they have had over 200,000k on them. If your truck is out of warranty, I wouldn't sweat it.

Good to hear. I plan on running her until she dies lol. Other than that absolutely no issues. Runs like a sewing machine and doesn't use a drop of oil. I change it every 5k with MC 5w20 and MC filter and it's still pretty clean when I change it.
