5.0 getting 14mpg highway. Why?!?!
Ive had my 2012 Lariat with the 5.0 for a year now. When I first got it I was averaging 18-20mpg on the highway. I added a flowmaster 44 and gained 1 mpg. I leveled it and mpg remained unaffected. I put on BF Goodrich K02's (275/70/18), and mpg lost around 2mpg on the highway putting me around 17-18mpg average. Since then I have changed nothing else but my mileage now is averaging 14ish highway. I installed a K&N CIA hoping for some improvement but only gained about .5mpg. Whats going on with my truck and why did the MPG drop so drastically?? Any tips on regaining my MPG?

I lost 2 mpg when I added a level and 275/70/18 Toyo Open Country AT's, I get 14-15mpg in town and 18mpg doing 65mph or 16mph doing 70-75mph. Heavy tires and driving above 65mph will KILL your MPG's.
I drive a 2014 eco BTW

Recently mine did the same, basically 14 mpg however I drove for 7 tanks. Winter fuel didn't matter last year. I think my front calipers had been hanging up but ford says all was good-even with purple rings around the front rotors.. Took it in for its 30k service and my mpg came back.

I can't tell what the picture is!
If it's an oil change and tire rotation - that 30k service sounds like a nice way to make routine maintenance sound incredibly important!
I just looked at what those services are, and it's basically a $400 oil change with an "inspection" - a complete package that is available at Jiffy Lube for maybe $40.
The number of teeth in the tech's mouth might differ, but it doesn't look like the work done will change.
1. Muffler and CAI might mess with your mileage if mechanical flow properties are messed with. I don't know.
2. Heavy tires might be your culprit.
3. Your truck probably sounds way cooler with the CAI and muffler, so your driving might have changed to a style that lets you hear more.
4. You spend too much time idling at Tachi Palace
