Default 5.0 Engine lugging sound

bone stock truck.

I recently noticed a lugging sound when in a high gear and I lightly step on the gas.
Kind of like an exhaust vibration.

As if driving a stick and not downshifting when needed.

Anybody else experience this?

I can replicate it on demand.

Kinda sounds like a loose heat shield.

that was my original thought. myself and the shop that installed the exhaust and leveling kit looked for loose heat shields. everything looks and feels solid. hopefully ford will find the problem.

I think I may have heard this today but it was very windy so maybe that was it for me.

Mine does it too. I think it is in the intake, or the variable cam timing adjusting. Let us know what your dealer says.

I've read it may be the Torque converter.

^This to me sounds more like what you are describing, especially being that you are at a low RPM so this is probably after the torque converter is locked up.

Are you worried that the dealer won't help you due to your mods?

I just mounted my plow frame and wiring for the season. I only have 5k miles left before 36k. I really don't feel like pulling it all off for a visit to the dealer.

Can't say I've ever heard mine do that.
