I follow you now. I know some of the blocks had mishaped cylinder walls.

per conversations i've had with others on the forums i think * BL3Z 6009 "G"* < emphasis on the "G" < is the latest and last iteration and best iteration of 5.0 engine block from the 11-14 engines. as ive seen least amt of problems from the +14 built trucks.

I believe the early (11-12)mustangs had this problem and just the same the newer ones did not. I want to say they changed the pistons along with some other details.

That's the story, but I've been along side of many 13-14 5.0 F150s in traffic at a stop that had the same knock (the light intermitting knock that is,as mine has and others have) not the heavy constant knock that others have reported, whitch resulted in new engines, whitch I believe is the cylinder bore distortion ones. I don't believe the light intermitting knock is cylinder bore distortion.

For those that don't know,I have a thread about this on my 5.0.

After all the nonsense I've put up with ford customer service I've given up. Feel bad for the poor sucker who buys this oil burning engine knocking piece of S@#& ! I am 36 yrs and have 16 new ford's lease or buys. Not any more. I even get A plan discount.

Oh man, good luck with that GMC, hopefully it's at least a 2016, definitely not a 2014

It may be an ugly fix but as long as you have no issues with it...ugly may be a good thing.
