5.0 4x4
Hello all! Plan on buying a 12th Gen 5.0 when I’m back from deployment. Noticed there’s not a stickied common issues/buyers guide on here. Anything around here? I love the 5.0 and I’m hoping for an FX4 but that may be out of the budget. Anyone have an unbiased opinion on what the Chevy 1500 does better than the F150?
Should be plenty of FX4 5.0's around for under $25,000 (with decent mileage). I love mine! I would recommend trying to find a 2014 model, since they have been proven and tested. The 2011/2012's with 5.0s are known to have some issues.
Regarding Chevy's, I noticed the Chevy's do not hold their value compared to Fords. Recently looked at some 2016/2017 LTZ's and noticed the price was ~$5,000 less than 2013/2014 FX4's or Lariats. My buddy has a 1500 and loves it. It has better shift pattern compared to our F150's but he has also had more issues. I think it may be the luck of the draw.

I'm doing the same thing, but with as smaller budget
It does seem there are potholes everywhere with all manufacturers, but still seems (loosely checking) that Ford is probably the better bet.

The main thing I see that Chevy does better than Ford is turn its owners into raging lunatics. IDK if that's a spray they apply at the factory or what. Maybe it wears off the truck after a few years.

When my 2012 F-150 was 6 months old I got hit. It took a month to repair the truck, mostly due to the other drivers I insurance company. They gave me a new, 2012, Chevy Silverado to drive while my truck was getting fixed so I got to do a back to back comparison.
Even my teenage daughter said, without being asked, my Ford had it all over the Chevy. She said my truck felt like a truck, the Chevy felt like a car. Looks are subjective but we both feel the Ford is a better looking truck. Chevy cab felt cramped and cheap, and my truck is just an XL, the Chev was mid range. Ford mirrors were better. Ford was faster, 5.0 with 373 rear end vs 5.3. Fuel millage was about the same.
This was a while ago so I don't remember what else I thought the Ford did better but I was glad the Chevy dealer made me such a lousy offer on the Silverado that I went down the street to the Ford dealership.
