2011 f150 xlt V8 223000 miles need to shift into neutral to reach 4x4 high otherwise it shifts to 4x4 low fluid swap at 110000

 

Transfer case shift motor.

 

Yep, you're gonna have to change your shift motor. The potentiometer on the back of the shift motor that tells the computer where it's at is going bad. Mine did the same thing, DO NOT SHIFT on the fly till you get it changed out, I need a new front drive shaft now.

 

Sometimes this might work before replacing the motor, but ultimately, motor replacement is the better option.
