4X4 problems still !!
My 2014 F150 4x4 reg cab ,5.0L shortbox will not disengage out of 4 wheel drive unless I come to full stop and turn the steering wheel sharp left or right and moves backwards . Loud click or clunk then were good to go !!
A little history, at 59000 clicks I pulled my boat out of the water , proceeded to shift to 2wd , was on a gravel road ,stepped on the gas to spin rear tires to make sure it was only 2wd and it was . Proceeded to hwy where I went for 20 mins until I good smell burning oil ,pull vehicle over and front diff was on fire ,oil boiling out of vent tube caught fire on the extremely hot front diff. After some yelling and screaming at the dealership got warranty work done ,rebuilt front diff and that was it .No reason why it obviously stayed in 4wd or what the cause was , but since then I have the problem I have now !! Any speculations as to what might still be wrong !!
Thanks Seppi

I did ,I'm just throwing it out there to see if there was a common problem out there other people might have experienced with their truck without having to explain in an essay forum of question !!!!
Is your issue shifting out of 4H, 4L, or both? And was it doing this before the front diff rebuilt too?
Also, it sounds to me like the incident with the front diff wasn't was more than it staying in 4x4. If there is adequate oil, your front diff can turn all day long on the highway without issue. There are even drive slugs that can replace the IWE so the front diff always turns (like most non Ford trucks on the market). Was it verified that the transfer case was in 4x4, or just assumed because the front diff was spinning? Either way, you say you verified if was in 2wd when you hit the pavement, so either the tcase shifted back, or the IWE's didn't disengage.

Yes, I'm confused as to why the front diff spinning made it catch fire. There's clearly something mechanically wrong there.
As far as the IWE's go, did you check both, check all vacuum lines, and check the solenoid on the firewall?
