4788miles of towing
Just returned home friday from a long trip towing my 19' Arctic Fox from Montana to Arizona. visited with my wifes brother then over to Victoria Texas to vist my brother.
The Arctic Fox weighs 4550 dry and has a GVW of 7000. I didn't weigh after loading but I had to be right up there with water, food, and extra stuff that may be needed.
I have a 2010 Platinum with max tow and weight. The truck performed great! I could maintain my speed up any passes and hills that we traveled. For example Homestake pass in Montana it never slowed down.
The only time the truck had to work was up the panhandle of Texas and Oklahoma with head winds at 35 mph and gusts to over 50mph.
My gas mileage varied with terrain and weather (head wind) Low as 8.5 and high as 12.8. The average was about 11.
I can say that the 5.4 really did the job.
When I was ready to trade I was aprehensive about the towing ability but the incentives offered on the 2010 were to good to pass up. I was thinking of waiting for a 6.2 but now am satisfied that I got this truck
I had no problems with transmission or shifting properly when needed.
I can accelerate fast enough to merge with traffic at on ramps or even to pass.
I used the cruise control and towed between 60 and 65, which was a safe speed.
I now have 7,987 mile on the truck. It is smooth and quiet. The navigation system worked great. The travel link alerted us to 4 accidents going around Phoenix and told us which lanes were blocked.
I am a happy owner
