Default 300K Maintenance

Well almost 300k...I hit 299,000 in my 2011 XLT w/ 3.5 Ecoboost this weekend and gave it a good tune up and refresh. I was able to get the following accomplished due to some unseasonably warm weather here in Michigan:

Oil & Filter - Motorcraft syn blend & MC filter
Spark Plugs & Boots - swapped out to the Ford performance M-12405-35T (which I think used to be the SP542) gapped at 0.028. Only had one boot stick to the old plug and had to carefully dig out with some long needlenose pliers. PITA.
PCV valve - the brown one, EV297 is the new part number
Evaporator purge valve - replaced bc I was having issues with the fuel gauge not going to full even with a full tank, not sure yet if this fixed the issue or if I have a bad sending unit. Filler neck looks good and tank is not bowing. May try looking in FORSCAN to make sure I have the right size tank. Weird problem.
Fuse 27 relocate - My fuse was burnt but still working so did this mod with the kit. A bit of a pain getting the wire to cooperate but managed.
Cleaned the MAP, Boost Pressure and Intake Pressure sensors - Lots of gunk on these.
Cleaned the Throttle Body - absolutely caked with crud.
Did the intercooler 1/16 hole mod - nice gush of oily water.
Had the dealer do the PCM update for the 19S07 transmission recall.
Also replaced the blower motor bc the old one was chirping a bit.

This forum and YouTube made most of these chores a breeze. Gained a nice pep in throttle response and smoothed out the idle quite a bit with the tune up. Next up going to play around with FORSCAN a bit and get my SCT tuner hooked up. Then onto some suspension, wheels and some of those awesome under $50 mods....Love this truck!

Man... i have a friend whose got a '12 EB with about 280k on it. Said the worst thing he's done was turbo coolant line seals, other than that just general maintenance. Me, on the other hand, had to do the extensive timing chain job at 71k, rebuild the entire front suspension at 90k, among other items. Seems like some have good luck with these engines/trucks!

good on you for doing preventative maintenance!

An engine which is constantly working will outlast one that isn’t. Cold starts, stop and go, and short commutes are not good.
