Default 3.73 or 4.10s...

Hi yall, I've used the search function and couldn't find anything (if the thread is here though let me know plz!) But I have a '14, RCLB, 3.7 2wd and going to get a LSD along with gears. I know some trucks come with 3.73s and they move ok but I want more so I'm thinking about just jumping to 4.10s... I don't tow often, and not really concerned about MPG. My only concern is about highway drivability (about an hour commute 1 way)
Should be ordering in the next few days so hopefully yall could shed some light for me hah

Thanks

I've got 3.73s on my truck. I have no complaints with them. I used to do 50 miles a day commuting and have had zero problems with the gears. I got about 15.5 mpg when i had a set of Nitto 420s. It is very drivable on the highway.

Hmm maybe the 3.73s will be enough then.. I'm really curious if the 4.10s will make such a big difference or not lol

I'm not sure. My truck runs at about 1900 rpm going 70 on the highway. I have yet to drive a truck with 4.10s. My truck tows very well with no lack of power also.

I have another truck that came with 3:73's and until I changed the gearing to 4:10, I had no idea what I was missing...the truck felt a 1k pounds lighter.

Did mileage suffer? a bit, but I really was not concerned about that.

If I order another truck in the future and 4:10 is an option, then it is a no-brainer for me.

I would think the 6 speed's monster low 1st gear would make a 3.73 rear enough. If you don't tow and are concerned about highway drivability I would stick with 3.73.

There are numerous gear ratio calculators online that take inputs of tire size, transmission gear ratios, and rear differential gear ratios that will give you a perspective of the change either change. Results flush out like max speed of each transmission gear, RPM at X MPH.

4.10s on lifted trucks with 35s. For a 2wd, 3.73 would be good.

Don't waste the time and money going up 1 gear set. You're talking a measly 10% increase in ratio. Either do 2 sets (15%+) or nothing at all.

Get a custom tune instead.
