Default 3.7 v6 2011+ F-150-Reability?

How reliable are the 2011+ F-150 with the v6 3.7 Naturally aspirated engine?

Someone told me that in those years, The v6 3.7 IS THE MOST RELIABLE engine out of the 3 choice, between the 5.0, 3.5 ecoboost and 3.7 v6... Plenty of people said not too touch the 3.5 ecoboost, many ,many problems...

Is that true?

I will just stick to your question about the 3.7...you can search about the 3.5 and find your answer about that...but I am sure this will turn into all of the other threads about the 3.5l soon enough.

The 3.7 is a good engine if you don't need to tow or haul a bunch or often (like less than 5,000lbs towing) The only real downside is its power, but gets great fuel economy.

I'd buy one if I needed a truck that got good fuel economy and didn't need to tow or haul much or often.

Solid engine along with the 5.0L. 6.2L is even better. 3.5L is junk if you’re considering owning it for a long time - it will not last. Have had 2 high mileage ecos and just bought another. Looks like folks in my area are holding onto their V8s and dumping the ecos. V8s also command a higher price tag. Built Ford Tough.

I have a '12, reg cab, stx, 3.7v6. Bought it used a little over a year ago with 61k miles, Now have 72k miles. I haven't had any engine issues and believe previous owner had no issues either. From my understanding the engine has been used a few years in mustangs and other Ford vehicles.

i get 21-22 hiway driving 70-75. 19ish in town driving. I have pulled a mid sized u-haul 1100 miles hiway loaded with furniture and lawn equipment, got 15-16 in tow/haul mode.

it fits my needs fine. My last 2 Ford pickups lasted 22 and 20 years. A 74 and a 97, both 6 cyl, both bought new. So I'm hoping for 15 years or so on this one.

Coming from someone who has owned both and can give you an educated and informed opinion... Ecoboost > 5.0 in every single category EXCEPT exhaust note. That's literally the only thing I miss about that engine.

Then why would you need a truck?

I need the truck not too tow, Need the bed for Carrying various things, im a electrician.

I might need a small enclosed trailer, But not sure yet, I read the 3.7 v6 can tow 5000 pounds and under. That would be good enough for me.

Also i saw that the 3.7 got the best fuel economy out of the 3 engine choice... Really good fuel economy...

I tow a trailer nearly every weekend with my rzr on it and usually up long 6-8% grades, so the ecoboost made sense to me. I also plan on buying a travel trailer in the future. If I didn't do those two things than I would buy a 3.7l as I just like driving a truck.

There are lots of people that like trucks just for trucks and use them as their DD, grocery getter., need to store some tools/supplies in the bed but they don't weigh very much. Occasionally they might haul heavy or tow things but not very often. In reality, I would bet that if a survey was done in how often people tow/haul, it wouldn't be often for most personal use half ton truck owners. Just on my street alone nearly every house (21 out of 24 houses) has a truck at it, yet I have only ever seen 3 of these people (including me) tow a trailer.

Love my 3.7. Ignore the engine, look at the specs. It is plenty of HP and torque for my use.
