Thats just my personal opinon I personally always get a vehicle loaded with all options. The XLT's are a boring looking truck the interiors are very plain and the exterior has to much chrome for my liking. I know alot of people need a plain a basic truck to get the job done but I would just never buy one but hey thats just me.

Many pay the extra to have the biggest motor in the xlt..... Many want the motor to haul things, yea seems to be a weird thing for people to understand these days, that some do actually use their trucks for work still. Many people dont feel the need to have a truck wrapped in leather and other fancy little things if they use it to haul things around and get in and out of their truck covered in dirt.

I could have bought a lariat or higher but i didnt feel i would use the extra add ons they came with and couldnt justify paying the extra, does that mean i dont deserve a better motor because of it?

Most work trucks you see that are actually being used for what they were designed for, are not the top of the line fancy trucks.

Thats like me saying the raptor sucks because im not a fan of it, $10,000 more for better suspension, no thanks, 80% probably wont even leave the pavement. But that doesnt mean the truck sucks because i dont have the needs for it, still an awesome truck with great capabilities.

Lets not throw around such childish words like that, majority of the people on this forum probably own an XLT and im sure they dont appreciate people talking down to their trucks because it isnt wrapped in leather head to toe. Also i beleive many who own an xlt, could have gone for a higher truck if they really needed the extra options, but many are happy with what the xlt offers for options.

hmm, I belive the buyer should have the option to buy what ever functional option they wish for a truck, I bought my FX4 for one reason, the LOCKER, if I could have gotten it on the XLT base I would have but I wanted the locker so thats what I got, a 90% base FX4, I have the flow thru but thats just because thats what came on it. PS. XLT is a working gentlemans truck it is used, FX4, lariat, platinum are buisness/weekend towing mans trucks. IMO

Agreed. I am a proud XLT owner and despite my tranny issues I would buy that package again and it's exactly for the reasons stated that it had the options I wanted and nothing more as I didn't need all the fancy bells and whistles.

Personally I can't justify spending an extra $10,000 to get leather seats, bigger wheels, and a console shifter. I'd rather put that $10K towards the nice sports car I have sitting in my driveway. But to each their own.

Im not being childish at the least man its my personal opinon that I think the XLT sucks so what?? The fact most people probably think the Raptor isnt worth paying the extra cash for maybe so but hey why do I care what they think I love my Raptor its a amazing truck. I wasnt calling out anyone in particular just the type of F150 that doesnt interest me in the least. Im sure everyone with a XLT loves there truck and has that agurment on how great they think it is but that is there opinon and im sure they stand by it as I do with mine.

I would chalk a lot of that up to “Raptor Envy”, which of course NO ONE will admit to themselves, let alone a forum. In fact most will fall all over themselves denying it. It’s just ridiculous that someone could say they would rather have an XLT than a Raptor. Factoring in the cost of course makes a difference but that does not reduce the Raptors desirability, only its justifiability.

I wanted and was going to get a Raptor but three things kept me from doing it and got me into my XLT. The first and biggest thing is its tow rating. Of course you could air bag it and make it better but it still has a shortest wheelbase and when you are towing a 24’ enclosed trailer 1000mi one direction the more wheelbase the better. The second reason for me is the bed length. The utility reason for having my truck is to tow a trailer or put two roadrace bikes in the bed….or both. I can’t close the tailgate with two bikes in the bed on the Raptor which means I can’t hook a trailer to it at the same time (sometimes I tow my 14’ trailer and end up putting friend’s bikes in the bed). And strike three is that I already have a 07’ GT500 and a 2010 GT Vert and I don’t have much of an excuse for getting another “toy”.

Do I want a Raptor? Yes, of course I do. It kills me every time I see one. But can I justify buying one? Absolutely not. So I got a loaded out XLT, threw some wheels/tires at it, some appearance mods and this fall its getting a blower. I will always want a Raptor though.

I’m curious about the 5.0L Ecoboost. That could be a MONSTER motor. The guy that does the tuning on my Mustangs just got a new SHO and a 2011 5.0 Mustang and after throwing a tune in each we took them out for a little “testing” and the SHO CREAMED the Mustang in every speed contest we could come up with. Those turbo motors are real easy to get crazy HP out of with just tuning. The torque curve is flat as a pancake. I can’t imagine what you could do with a 5.0L Ecoboost. That could end up being the killer “sleeper” motor. You could drive around all day under normal conditions getting great mileage but when you wanted to you could put your foot in it, spool up the turbo’s and have one fast truck.
