2WD Owners
#41
I agree, most guys with 4x4s don't ever use it, they just buy it to say they have it. To each their own, but I love my 2WD. It does everything I need it to, from hunting and fishing trails (mud/rocks/inclines/declines), to towing, anything really, and I've yet to ever need 4WD. I was born and raised in Florida, so we never used 4wd, and now that I live in Tennessee, I drive better in the snow with my 2wd than the people with 4wd.

I have a '13 STX and just put a billet grill on it. I didn't mind the stock grill, but with the wheels I just put on, the billet grill makes it look much better.

I live in the south also brother. Use my truck like you, so I don't need a 4x4. Haven't had anyone say anything like, "Why didn't you get a 4x4"? If they do I just say," if you buy me one I'll get it tomorrow".

20 years ago, 4x4 was much more important for bad weather driving, etc., nowadays the benefit is not as glaring.
The thought on 4x4 nowadays is twofold:
-Resale value is higher (Allows people to get most of the cost difference back.)
-Winter driving, e-peens, and a perceived need of 4x4.
Why isn't your bitch truck a 4x4?

Went w a 2wd 2013 Platinum myself. Don't pull anything and not into off-roading. I live in S. Florida so no chance of seeing snow. Besides all that, I drive into parking garages every week or two so the height would have cost me money. My truck is my mobile office most days and since I spend most of my time in it, I wanted something comfortable and reliable so I stuck w a FORD.
Ride height/clearance isn't a problem as I can make it over curbs without any problems thanks to the 20's and chunky tires on them. I mean, does this thing look low to you? LOL.

And I found a mound of dirt today so I made a detour in my 2wd Platinum just to play a little on the way back to the office!
And with an automatic locking diff. And a whole bunch of torque I can have as much fun as I want as long as I remember I'm in a 2wd heavy *** truck!

I have 2wd and a set of Blizzaks. I run rings around vehicles with No-season radials and 4wd in the winter. Probably not all-terrain radial and 4wd. I get an mpg or two better and I saved $4,600.
$4600 for 4X$ is, to put it simply, a rip-off. Not many of us drive through mud bogs enough to justify it. Most off-road situations require a considerably smaller vehicle than an F-150 to navigate well, with or without 4X4.
