I understand
. All vehicles have different ratios for tires. I may not have the numbers exact that I am going to give you but here is an example. You say your tires are 245/70r17. So we will say they are 30.0 in tall(overall) diameter. You will have to get the same overall diameter in an 18 or a 20 in tire. You will find way more options in the 18 in. Go to a wreckers and get 4 rims that's your first start. The 18 in rim combo should be close to the 285/65r18. It will be closest match that will not create a problem and you will have way more options in tire choices. For example a BFF all terrain or a Toyota open country or even a nitro line brand. I put 20's on mine and snuck on a 33x12.50x20 Toyota open country mt... Love em. I work at a ford dealer and I was able to program my overall diameter in. Not the tire size now readings are right and I have no shifting issues and mileage is correct. I sell tires at my place and I swear there is slot the dealer can do for ya as long as you approach them by asking if they can do it not by telling them they can do it. Hope that works

I actually have 255/65/17s on the aluminum alloy rims. I've been told that most of the tire shops will change to the size I request. And I can do the programming. Jumping from 255/65/17 to 285/65/18 would give me an extra inch in height, 2 inches of diameter compared to what I have now. I think I would be happier with that change.

But are you saying that reprogramming will do away with the awkward shifting once I reprogram it?

This one is a little better but it's getting dark outside. I could get a better one tomorrow if you want.

I left Discount Tire about 50 minutes ago and test fit this size on my 4x4 XLT with no problem in a BFG AT. They work and look good.

Those look really good. Like the color of that truck too. And that is an enourmous garage, which I had a garage that would fit my truck in.
