If you Ecoboost guys can outlast the range of your 26 gallon gas tank, you have excellent endurance.
Y'all are talking like a bunch of long haul truckers. How many times per year do you travel over 400 miles from home? In the 2 years I have owned my truck, only 2 trips over 400 miles from home.

I'm considering taking along 2 six gallon gas cans when we take a vacation out West...just in case.
I still think is was a very stupid move on Fords part to even offer a 26 gallon tank. They should have put 36's in across the line. Why do you think Henry Fords first auto was only offered in black? To keep costs down.

As suggested earlier in this thread, if interested in performing the fuel tank swap, keep an eye out for '12 EcoBoost 4x4s popping up in local junkyards. I grabbed a 36 gal. tank out of a '09 4x4 complete, everything I needed, plus skidplates I did not have, for $200. The swap went well, and I have been greatly pleased with the bigger tank in my '10 screw 5.4.
Something that worked well for me was getting the VIN for the junkyard truck and running the VIN search to get the Window Sticker. That gives all the info you need to make sure what equipment is on the truck.
