I didn't understand what big wheels or lowering the truck like the OP asked had to do with anything. He was inquiring about a mild 2/2 drop and 22s. Most trucks are coming from the factory with 20s & 22s now so the rims weren't much bigger than what's coming from the factory. The Sport Truck article that he referenced was talking about major modded suspensions. He wasn't asking about slamming his truck.

Anytime someone mentions lowering a truck it causes an issue. We've all been created to be individuals. It's times I'm riding down the street & I'll see the most hideous vehicle I've ever seen. I'll think to myself WTF were they thinking. Then I have to catch myself. If the owner likes it I love it. If more people on this forum had that motto it'd be much better here.

The wheel choice came out great by the way OP.

The design of the rims and the tires are sufficient to haul anything you could put in your truck. I have proof of this as this is my second f150 with the same rim/tire setup over a 10 year period.
Help a dark blue XLT owner out here....is the only mod vs. stock the 22" wheels? Because....well that looks pretty good, no doubt. Did it change your mileage? I'll throw in a disclaimer that my truck is strictly a grocery getter, no towing, off road, or hauling whatsoever.

Thanks guys

K so I read this thread and I was hoping to find an answer can anyone here tell me if the rims I've bought are going to fit without a levelling kit? I'm mostly concerned with rubbing I've got a set of procomp 6009 22x9.5 rims and have to pick up rubber bands for them are the 305/45/22 tires going to fit on my 2011 fx4?

I'm sorry to resurrect this thread ... I was just looking at the "thanks" that were under my name.

Sullyman, you have some valid points, but not all are correct.
Lowering my truck does nothing to the payload capacity. It still has the same rear springs. There is 2" less travel, but the springs are the same. This truck was my commuter.

If I needed to haul something, my other truck is more than capable.

Now you can go ahead an rant an rave about how dumb it is to lift a truck.

My point is, that if you want to try and make your truck drive and ride like a sports car, and take away all the abilities of your truck that make it a truck, then why not just buy a sports car?

Because although I have looked high and low, I have yet to find a sports car with a 6.5 trunk.

Not sure how big the box is but the Holden Ute sells pretty well down under. Not exactly my cup of tea but in the nature of the thread, if the guy who puts the green down likes it, good for them!

My 2014 FX2 is lowered 2/4 and I have no problem towing my boat (21' Contender center console) and trailer (estimated 5,000 pounds). Have never bottomed out either.
