2014 F150 STX heated defrost mirrors installed information post
Hi all,
Since I lurked here for weeks before i tackled the project, I thought it would be worthwhile to share my success and part information in case anyone else needs it.
My truck; 2014 STX 4x4 Supercab 5.0. My understanding is that the STX did not come with heated/defrost mirrors unless special ordered.
Parts I purchased;
Climate control module; BL3T-19980-BD (w/mirror defrost, w/manual temperature, non-heated rear window, non-8" touch screen).
Came from a 2012 XLT, although the manufacture date is 2010. Purchased on ebay from LKQ, user "lkqonline" for $54.83 shipped. LKQ does sales/markdowns so its worth searching their store for discounted items. If it is listed, you can also take the partial vin number from their listing and google it to find their database for that specific vehicle including the mileage. These modules sell for anywhere from $50-$200 used and new and there are multiple suffix variants that will work. Read the listing closely.
Mirrors; BL34-17682-CE5YGY and BL34-17683-CE5YGY (w/defrost, w/turnsignal, w/reflector front, non-power fold, non-puddle lamp)
Came from a 2014 F150 XLT that was ordered with towing mirrors and arrived with these short mirrors. The dealer changed the mirrors out before delivery, so these were literally brand new. Purchase price was $200. You'll see OEM sets run for $100-450 online on craigslist or ebay, it took me a patient month to find these locally.
The installation was straightforward, and there are lots of write ups and videos on how to remove the door panels and radio/hvac surround, so I won't cover that. Total time to replace both mirrors and the climate control module was about 2 hours start to finish.
Success! The defrost function works perfectly (it was 30F out and with my bare hand I could feel the warmth), and the turn signals work with no further action. I will add that my temperature readout on the radio display was retained (there are a couple posts out there that this was lost or added). I'll add photos in a second post.
Good luck with yours! If you found this helpful,
