Default 2014 f150 mpg dissapointed....

ive got a 2014 f150 limited ecoboost.
ive heard from everyone that they can get 17 or 18mpg. i can't get over 14mpg. ive tried only driving 65mph on the highway. i drove it on an interstate trip the other day 70mph the entire way, i only got 14.3mpg. what gives?

would a tuner with an 87 tune and cold air intake help it at all??

ive never had a truck that gets over 15, except for a diesel.

A CAI from what I've read on here will get you worse mileage.

What's the weight of your truck (on the door jam, GVWR-Payload)? It can make a big difference in the eco portion of the ecoboost. F150s can vary by option packages and other stuff you carry.

This is why I avoided the trouble prone ecoboost engine and opted for the V8, similar mpg with v8 reliability. I hear lots of complaints of people getting the ecoboost for mileage and being disappointed that it's no better than the v8.

Forgive me if this isn't the case cause I don't want to insult your intelligence but do you reset the MPG calculator after you fill up?

I'm 100 miles into my second tank of gas on my 'new to me' 5.0L and I'm getting 18.5mpg on the trip computer really driving like a grandpa. My last tank my lady got stuck in rush hour traffic one time and I ended up averaging 16mpg calculated at the pump (all city) for the whole tank.

Try to stick to the topic. The 5.0 has had it's issues as well but this isn't what the OP is asking.

What type of driving do you normally do? Are you going off of the dash mileage indicator or are you hand calculating your tanks?
