Yes they do. When they create the emblem the blue part is placed into the chrome housing, and then the "plastic locating pins" are melted down. In effect this secures the blue plastic to the chrome housing. The big piece of blue plastic highlighted on the backside of the emblem in red creates the little piece of the "F" and fills the hole in the "D".
I used a larger drill bit, an exacto knife, and a pair of needle nose pliers to remove all of the overhanging plastic. The thinner oval of blue plastic has tabs that just need to be released in addition to about four melted pins.
I did NOT highlight all of the points to release the blue background! Please look around for yourself... when they are all ground off, they blue will come off very easily! If it doesn't look for another attaching point! Look for tabs on the blue oval... the visible ones are at 5 and 7 oclock... should be at least two more! I'm attaching photos that I took of my emblem while I took it apart to match it to my Ruby Red 2013. I reassembled it with dabs of Gorilla glue. I'll be happy to answer any questions, please give me time to reply... I work two jobs... I'll reply as soon as I am able! GOOD LUCK! (picture comments are under the photos!?)

Remove blue buttons gently... I drilled with a large bit, then trimmed the excess off to allow the eblue background to come off of the front of the emblem.

These two pieces will come of attached to the blue piece circled in red in the previous picture.

I lightly scuffed all of the surfaces of the blue background (with 100 grit wet-or-dry paper or a fine scotch-brite pad) before priming, duplicolor painting, and clearing.

Backside of the main background plastic. If you zoom in, you will be able to see how I drilled out the "pins".

Mounted on my new black grille. Nice complement to the truck color... IMHO!

Yes... rear comes apart same way... front emblem comes off after removing two nuts from backside of grille/emblem. I have the camera mount on my tailgate. I removed that emblem by inserting a small flat head screwdriver into the tiny slot at the bottom of the emblem, and gently prying the emblem off. Spring/tension clips hold it in place
