Default 2014 3.5 Ecoboost Programmer Recommendations...

First off I'm new to this forum and new to F150's. I've owned 6 powerstrokes and was at times a regular on Powerstroke.org forum. Having said that I'm no stranger to turbo's and tuners. Most of the strokes run better with custom tunes from tuners which use SCT. I've read and heard a lot about Livernois and different SCT tuners but figured I'd poll the masses and get some feedback on which one to buy. I know this will prolly open a can of worms as it would on the powerstroke forum. Oh and I just purchased a 2014 FX4 Crew with the 3.5. Thanks to everyone for their feedback in advance.

Welcome to the site. This gets asked a lot. A quick search will pop up numerous threads. Most guys run a SCT w/5* custom tunes.

Read up on the ecoboost condensation hole. Also read up on the timing chain issue. Both threads are on the first page of the Engine forum.

Welcome! I had a 2011 EB untuned and decided to tune my 2014 FX4. Decided on SCT tuner with 5 star custom tunes. Love the decision. I drive min 20k+ miles per year so 5 star provides great reliable tunes. You can get more aggressive but it would depend on your needs I suppose.

Thanks guys. I kinda figured I would have gotten quite a bit more response on this issue, but I guess I'll read up on the 5 star and go from there.

My recommendation is compare 5 star and MPT or better yet why not just order the sct tuner to fit your need like x4 or livewire and buy a couple custom tunes from each.

SCT x4 with 5* tunes. Truck runs great! If you go with 5* stay away from the Eco tunes, they don't work well and dump raw fuel in the oil. They *may* be ok in city driving, but not for highway. Wasted money on 3 useless tunes.

I agree about the eco tunes but to be fair it dose say right on their site that they (eco tunes) benefit city driving rather then freeway

Ordered my X4 from 5* since they are only a few hours down the road. Thanks for the suggestions.

Good luck! Just be careful when towing up steep grades with the tune. It will haul *** up a mountain, but the cooling system will be overwhelmed.

As for the Eco tunes, found that out after I already ordered them.
