I'm not worried about owning a first year model. I've had good luck with first year models in the past...92 Bronco,97 F150 and 2011 Ecoboost F150.
But what will stop me from buying a 2015 is the 6 speed transmission. I want to wait a year or 2 until they come out with an 8 speed.

I went with a 2014 as I don't like to deal with the teething problems common with new models. I also like the looks of the '14 better than what I've seen of the 2015.

Also engine surging going up an incline. The dealer did all they could and all the numerous TSB's were performed. In the end, there was an engine reflash which literally felt like all the bottom end torque was taken away. At that point I gave up and traded it in for a 2014 truck.

No more EB's for me, but others have had no issues.

^ ^ ^ this is exactly why I'll be sticking with the 5.0 - a buddy had this happen with a full size camper in tow and his family on board - can't think of a scarier scenario short of a few horror movie props lol.

JMHO, bad experiences can happen whether you bought the first truck of a new series, or the last truck of an old series, or anything in between.

I have owned several first series trucks over the years, the last two, a 99 F350 CC, dually, PSD 4x4 went almost 500,000 miles before I sold it locally, guy still has it.

The last truck, the Lincoln that I just traded for the STX was at almost 200,000, again, first series truck, both of these two were the most trouble free trucks I have ever owned.

With that said, yes I bought a 14, reason was when I went to order the 15 dealer said I may not get it till end/first of year, I hate buying a new vehicle in the middle of winter, also, I would like to stick a Roush blower on this truck and was told by Roush rep. the blower program on a 15 could be a ways off, and I wanted Sunset Met. which it turns out will be a one year only color on the F150.

I think what you need to look at is "which" part(s) of the "new" truck will be affected, and what is old or evolving technology.

When you break it down, unless you are ordering a 2.7, the other drivetrains are pretty well established, the EB the 5.0 and the 3.7 have been around for a number of years, rear and front suspension will be VERY familiar, as will the frame.

Interior upgrades are just that, upgrades, nothing really out of the park there, so really you are down to paint and body issues, Ford has been painting Aluminum for a long time, I would hope they have it down by now.

I guess for me it comes down to the alum, body, but if it looks good fit, finish and gap wise when purchased I really don't see any problems after that.

Unless of course you are afraid that some of the fastens or adhesives will not do there job long term? But here again, It really isn't new technology per se.

Again, just my two cents, take it for what it's worth, but if I could have ordered a 15 and had it by Oct. 1st, that's what I would have done, gremlins be damned! LOL

Also this is my source for the reduced incentives I had mentioned previously. Maybe because some of you are up in CA your incentive packages are different - after all you guys pay more for your cars (taxes?) so IDK.

Only issue i had noticed was very rough idle when first starting. But I received such a high trade value on my 13 i had no option but do the deal as they dropped the cost of of my truck to 39 plus tax. My cost was my truck plus 5k.
