2013's most powerful and luxurious top of the line F150 - LONG with pics!
Hi all,
Some of you may remember me trying to decide on whether to pull the trigger on a new truck or to wait:
https://www.f150forum.com/f38/should...r-wait-194724/
Well, trigger pulled! Truck was ordered on 2/21/13 and was picked up on 4/2/13. I must say it is everything I was expecting and more. I am also finding out there are not many 2013's out there like mine...maybe it is just the price - MSRP was $57,275 (not counting headrest DVD's) or the cost of gas for this engine? Coming from a Super Charged V6 Nissan Frontier that got 11 MPG and required premium, this new truck will cut my gas bill I also got a great deal, $300 below invoice and invoice on all the add ons. $4250 in rebates and a fair trade in on my Nissan.
So what did I get?
A Ruby Red Metallic Platinum 4x4 Supercrew 157" Wheelbase (the ride IS better as I test drove quite a few short bed trucks: Raptor!!!, 5.0 Lariat, Ecoboost Limited, and a Ecoboost Platinum.) I went with the monster power plant, the 6.2L 2V EFI V8 Engine (All the power of the Ecoboost with no falling on it's face due to sucking in water and no steering issues as no EPAS...good old hydraulic here)
3.73 Electronic Lock RR Axle - highly recommended by forum members here
Power Moonroof
Max Trailer Tow Package - was afraid of the "dumbo" mirrors but they have grown on me!
Pickup Bed Extender - great for dividing the bed when getting groceries
Box Side Steps - just because!
Tailgate Step - because I am old and fat!
Wheel Well Liner - this should be standard on Lariat and up!
Spray-In Bed Liner - done at the factory before box was put together
DVD headrests - waiting for them to come in...
Mods include:
Truxedo Lo Pro QT, Weather Tech floor liners, Husky mud flaps, Platinum box lettering from F250, "Just Right Door Detent 3.0" and LED bed lights
There are a few things that I wish this truck came with.
1) tailgate power lock - this really does not cost that much, Come on Ford.
2) heated steering wheel - Well this may be available next year!
3) adaptive cruise control
With that said, I am most impressed with this truck. This is my first American vehicle as I had been a loyal Nissan customer all my life! (44 years old, widowed with 2 girls, 9 and 13 - hence the DVD's) Yes it took this F150 to do it. And the fact the Titan is beyond due for a make over! The comfort of the Platinum seats is awesome and it is very quiet inside. I am also really liking the MFT system! No issues so far except it took 2 days for the weather and movies to load. And the sound isn't bad either! Just make sure you add polyfill to the sub inclosure. The 6.2L has more power than one needs...I mean this thing is fast for a ~6000 pound truck! The engine is quieter than I was expecting but I like it. It will growl if you put your foot in it but otherwise, quieter that the 5.0 and not as quiet as the Ecoboost.
And now on to the pictures! (All taken with a Nikon D3 and either a 70-200 f2.8 or a 14-24mm 2.8)
And who can forget Sabio's comments when I first came here and posted a picture of my Nissan truck at the time?
