When I was looking for mine (a 2011) the FX4 was the rough plastic and the FX2 was painted the body color. I didn't like the rough plastic and thought it looked cheap. Which seemed odd they put it on the cheaper truck.

Yes, that red one looks like an FX2; look at the overall (lower) profile, and the distance between the top of the tire and the bottom of the fender well, as compared to the other truck.
