Question 2013 torque converter lockup

Hello all,

2013 Limited Screw, 4X4, 3.73 gears, EcoBoost.

So I have noticed as of late my truck sounds like it is bogging down under acceleration. Imagine a standard transmission in high gear going about 20 and you floor it. I hear that type of bogging down sound. I have seen posts about similar problems here. I have let it continue before taking it in because I like to gather as much information as possible first. After all, I do not want to hear. "Sir, that is normal."

This morning it dawned on me, is the torque converter permanently locked? I get to 65 on the interstate, tap on the brake, the point that you can feel deceleration. RPM does not increase at all. I attempted this several times on my way to IHOP.

It may be mentioned that the torque converter is not locking up at all. My cruising RPM at around 75 is around 2000, which is what it has always been.

I think this is a possible reason for the bogging down sound and feel. Any other opinions?

Richard

Richard, about all I can do to help is give you a bump to the top. It's one of those things that I'm not really sure of by the description. I know it took me awhile to get used to these new fangled transmissions. Good luck.

not sure how to link from a phone but I started a post called "Weird RPMs in 3rd 5.0". Good replies and explains the torque converter lockout in 3rd/4th/5th.

The converter locks in 3rd and above for efficiency and heat reduction.

If you really step on it, the transmission will downshift and the converter will unlock. It's a normal characteristic of this transmission

The stock shift schedule and shift pressures are absolutely horrendous. Get a good tune with trans tuning and you'll wonder how you ever lived with the stock shifting....
