Default 2013 HID Bulb Choices

So I recently picked up some oem hid headlights. They are empty so I am trying to decide what route to take on lights and ballasts. I assume I will need at least the stock ballasts to seal the opening on the housing or fabricate a cover? I am leaning towards oem lights, but not sure i want to buy used. Does anyone have experience with the retrofit source bulbs and are they comparable to the OSRAM's?

Right now the headlight is setup as drl's and from my research it seems the signal lights are the drl's on factory equipped hid's. Has anyone tried to use switchbacks for drl in the signal light spot? I'd rather have white lights for running than yellow.

Thanks!
James

I've got factory 2013 HID's but upgraded the bulbs to the Morimoto 5,500k bulbs to match the Morimoto LED replacement housings I have for the fog lights. Since the projector is the same of course and all I changed was the bulb there isn't a much better look or better visibility. It is a bit of a color change and I feel it is brighter.

These are the bulbs. They are 100% bolt into factory housings, but you will have to have the VERY tiny Torx bolts that bolt them in. If you have empty housings, you may have to go to Ford to get those. The bulbs don't come with those tiny screws.

Those are actually the bulbs I'm thinking about. And I've already got my list on Tasca's website with the 4 tiny screws, 2 clips, 2 rubber caps and 8 ballast screws. Probably will find the light wires elsewhere.

The wires come straight off the ballast and I'm not sure if they are separate of the ballast or not. I replaced my bulbs a few months ago and can't remember if they were just clipped onto the ballast or if there was no way to separate them.

I would go with Osram, personally. They are much higher quality and brighter.

I'm running cbi's in mine. I love them. A little pricey but seem a good bit brighter and match nicely to the xb fogs.
