2013 fx4 window reguator
So my window reguator/motor/cable broke Christmas eve night. I'm at 37k miles, and have complained to the dealer at least twice about it sounding as if it was in a bind. I'm not a tech, but I've worked on my fair share of vehicles in one form or another. I hate.... HATE...my local dealer. I have an extended warranty, so of course they turned to that....and a $100 deductible. But that just doesn't seem right to pay when I've pointed it out before and they say "no problem found", "it's normal", or "does it still go up and down?" Jack-a-lacks....should I just fix the damn thing myself out of principle?

Assuming it's your LF regulator that went bad as they're the most common it looks like the regulator itself (BL3Z-1523201-D) lists for $85 and can be found online for about $50-70, and and it calls for an hour to replace.
So doing it yourself you'd only save around $15 but if you feel at ease replacing it and would rather not give the dealer your business I'd say go for it. Personally since it's a pretty low labor and low cost item I'd just fix it myself so I know it's done correctly.

Not the most difficult job to do, personally I'd replace it my self if out of warranty but then again I've changed Ford window regulators numerous times working at the dealer.

lets revive this old thread, shall we?
my Passenger window regulator broke in the same way as you mentioned. luckily i had bought the PremiumCare with the zero deductible so it cost me nothing out of pocket. i asked them if they could look at the driver side and maybe do some preventative maintenance like oil the track or something and the techs response was "no body is going to pay me to do that so just wait till it breaks"... lol. awesome...honestly if it werent for the $0 ded plan i would of just done it myself.
