I have a 12 FX4 and changed mine out with a STX grille. End up finding one on Craigslist cheap! Depending on what type of grille you have (not all inners can be removed) the inner grille can be removed from the PTM surround. It's a time consuming project as you don't want to break any tabs, but well worth it for the look.

Thanks guys, some good info there.

Looks like I'm leaning towards a HD grill or the STX grill.

With the basic two bar, you can't actually separate the interior grill from the body colored surround?

When I purchased my 2013 FX4 last week I also negotiated a new grill, (old one had a rock hole in it) among other things. They gave me this paper and asked me which one I wanted. The bottom grill is the only black grill. It was $320, and the same as what I am replacing. The other three grills were all chrome and $450 I believe. Now I wished I would have asked for the 8200B and paint it black inside and silver on the surround to match the truck.

I think I'm going to call them back tomorrow and have them order the grill I want, instead of replacing it with the same grill that I would just be replacing anyway.

If the STX grill is the same as the Harley grill, would a 2011 2012 Harley grill insert fit in my
2013 surround?

Sounds like the 11-12 STX grill, possibly the Harley grill, needs a different surround to fit my 2013 Fx4?

The STX, or HD grill sounds like what I want. I would love to use my current Cortez silver painted surround, but I don't know if that's possible.

No, it won't fit your 2013 surround.

Best bet to mix and match surrounds is going to be from the same year model. I played the surround swap game and was able to come out with the grill I wanted.

Bought an fx4 grille with ptm surround, took my xlt grill apart blacked out the silver grid put the chrome bars back on and used the surround from the fx. Took the remaining fx center and the chrome surround together and resold it recouping most of the expense.

Before and after.

.

Left over fxlt hybrid.

So if I want an STX or HD grille on my 2013 FX4, will a 2011 or 2012 grille+surround mount on my 2013 hood?

I love the STX and HD grilles. I want to find a way to make it work on my 2013.

If you buy new it will come with a surround that is ready to be PTM'd. But they cost an arm and a leg new. I had a STX Sport grill on my 2011 FX4 but I sold it about 6 months ago.
