2013 FX4 EXACT OEM HID replacement bulb question
#12
I bought the Osram CBI which I think is rated as a 6000K bulb. But it certainly doesn’t even have a hue of blue like other 6000K bulbs I have had before. It is just a really nice white output.

oh the d2s bulbs. i guess the packaging for them is all over the place.
on lightwekrz they advertise 5500k in the description for all the Osram CBI bulbs but each bulb size packaging shows something different. D2S package shows up to 6000k, D3S package shows up to 5000k but my box above shows up to 5500k?
who knows.
i love the color - like you said no blue.

Anyways, my D3S CBI from TRS showed 6000K as well. I think the older packaging showed 500K or 5500K. Then they upped it for whatever reason to 6000K.

I replaced my factory HID bulbs with the bulbs below at approximately 45K miles. These are expensive, but very much worth it. They are a little bit whiter than the OEM bulbs but send light farther down the road. I'd buy them again.

If you can't see some blue in 5500k, then there is a problem with your eyes. Not that it matters. Even 6000k is ok for driving and legality. Above that you do start to look like a moron. (no offense to morons)
4300-5000k is the sweet spot for best lumen output, however. Obviously, the physical tech has to be in the bulb to be brighter, but that is the color range of light that will give the best output for actual road illumination. It's not a mistake that the higher output bulbs (Xtreme Vision, Night Breaker, etc.) are in the high 4xxx temp range.
