Hi. I have a 2013 F150 Ecoboost 3.5l XLT with 196000 miles. For the last two years I've had the P144C code and no luck finding the culprit. Recently I decided to build my own smoke machine to see if I can narrow down the issue. Current symptoms I have:
1. Difficulty starting after refueling.
2. Decreased mpg
I placed the smoke on the hose at the vapor canister. This hose is located to the front of the fuel tank and I believe it is Ford part # 9G297B.
South end of hose #9G297B
Now as soon as I attached the smoke I saw smoke blowing out from behind the engine, against the firewall (see pic) I can see where this hose turns up towards the engine but not where it's connecting. The army told me that assumption is the mother of all $&#$ups, but I assume my P144C issue is with this hose.
Do any of you have any advice on how to access this. My hands cannot reach it from the bottom or from the top of the engine.
I'm sorry I cannot offer any advice regarding your predicament, however I felt compelled to offer my gratitude to you after reading "I decided to build my own smoke machine."
Truly, a magnificent phrase.
