I have an appointment Wednesday morning. Service manager says they are having issues with some of the IC's in the eco boost. I know this but, I asked, since it was new, wouldn't it have the latest and greatest? I'm certain it does and it still isn't fixed but, we'll see.....

rhicks, i'm like you, if we got the 13's and it has the latest greatest, where do you go from here if Ford is already replacing the IC with what you have in your truck. Can you keep us posted to what your dealer fix is gonna be?

Wow, this is really sad to hear there is still an issue on the 13's. I have a bad feeling some owners are going to be left in the dust with these trucks. I live in western NY and just got back from a second local ford dealer and got the cold shoulder and lied to by the service advisor. I asked him when there was going to be an update and repair for the intercooler condensation issue. His reply same as another local dealer, I never heard of such problems. Then he, same as the other dealer stared at the computer screen and said "hugh I see no tsb's relating to a condensation issue sorry" Really sad considering I currently own a taurus, explorer and this ecoboost 150 and have been loyal a long time.

Issue? What issues? Must be driver induced failures... Typical Ford.... You will not know when or what is fixed in the model years to come...Just like the mysterious reinforced frame on the raptors for 2013 that has nothing to do with a design problem with the bump stop location and potential frame bending that was not a frame or design problem but caused by(see above) Driver induced failures.

I feel bad for you EB folks...The growing pains of a new power plant platform is not easy, and it is clear FORD is not going to step up and admit that there are things that may have needed more testing or simply are bad designs.

I agree fla-svt it is sad some dealers aren't willing to work with their customers, and Ford doesn't seem like they know how to or what to do to fix the issues with the Ecoboost motor!!!

concerns....exposing components of intake with elevated temps ....head temps possibly.... overall, I have to do something to feel safe in the vehicle....like previously posted....it won't be in my garage much longer if I can't find a resolution....that is drastic I know...but my FORD bubble is deflating fast....
Yea your super charged f150 did have an inter cooler you just couldn't see it. The inter cooler on these trucks I'm assuming model year 04-08 is mounted below the supercharger as part of the intake manifold. The difference between them is those inter coolers are air-water ( coolant lines run to and from it working much like your radiator to draw heat out of the air) and the Eco inter coolers are air to air. Just FYI , don't pull your inter cooler out on that thought you will notice a significant difference and not in a good way.

Hey Dallas...my SC wasn't factory. I put it in myself. There wasn't a intercooler and there wasn't a heat exchanger mounted up front. I realize there will be some power loss but, I'm interested in percentages...10...15...with a couple simple mods to these motors, I could re-coup my losses and not have to worry about this issue ever again.

someone suggested looking at the aftermarket CAC's...if they didn't cost a grand, I might consider it. Just the thought of buying a new truck and then dropping that kind of coin on a work around pisses me the hell off !!!

Fix my already !!!

Weird it didn't have one, and yes I feel for you guys with the eb. I'd be pretty pissed too. Thankfully that motor wasn't an option on my limited or I may have gone for it.

After cruising on the interstate in the rain for about 2 hours, I swung into the passing lane to go around a car and was doing about 70. I hit the gas to pass and completely lost power while I noticed the tranny dropped to 4th gear and the RPM's spiked to 4-5K. It then started slowing down and shuddering at around 60 MPH. I coasted awhile and was later able to resume speed. Fortunately I had read about the issue here and wondered if it would happen as this was my first long drive in steady rain. There were never any warning or check engine lights that appeared on the dash. I tried to re-create the issue the next day on the drive back home but it was a clear sunny day and the truck ran fine. My truck was manufactured the end of May and I had 3,500 miles on it at the time. I have the deflector shield and I also have a grille in the IC bumper hole. Scary. Guess I'll have the dealer check it when I get my oil changed here soon.
Shudder and loss of power happened again to me last week for the 2nd and 3rd time. Same conditions--rainy and 40-50 degrees after driving for a few hours. Check engine light stayed on and I called the dealer. The service rep I spoke with said he was aware of the issue and asked me to bring it in and that they'd need it for a couple hours. When I got there this AM with a printed copy of the TSB, the guy I spoke with yesterday wasn't there, so I talked with a different service rep who says he wasn't familiar with the problem. I gave him an education. They took the truck for a half hour and came back stating the code indicated an intercooler problem and the check engine light would stay on until they can get the new IC in and fix it. (BS!?) New IC is on order and he said they were given a ship date of early April. Not real happy about having to wait until April AND having to drive until then with my check engine light on.

I had the loss of power problem last November driving for 3 hours in heavy fog on cruise. I took it in for service in November and the dealer ordered the new IC. The IC was on back-order and arrived early February. We'll see if this is the fix when I drive in the right conditions again.
Apparently they are still having supply problems.
