Default 2013 4x4 shift issues @30k

Im a sure I am one of many SC 4x owners with this issue.

I use my truck to haul my hang gliders up and down mountains here in Cali.

The issue I am having after using 4 low the tranny refuses to shift back into any drive position or out of 4 low. The only way I can get the tranny to shift back into 2hi is shut down the truck re start and hope it engages. When it does, it does badly loud crunch and slams back into gear. Also had the truck in 4 hi moving at 30mph and it down shifted to FIRST for no reason.

Anyone else have the same issue?

Dropping it off tonight at the dealership .... Thank god I am under the 36k

What kind of grades are you dealing with that causes you to use 4 low?

What is the process that your using to shift it back into 2hi?

well the grades vary. Not sure what grade to put on some of our roads to go launch. Most of them are very steep with lots of rock and shale, this time of year mud also plays a factor. For example our main flying site requires true 4x with low and good tires. If I had to make a guesstimate between 75%-100% grade or 26-45 angle.

From low always stop shift into N On level ground
Turn **** to 4hi ... display will tell me advance trac shift in process...
Get the ok box
Turn **** to 2hi ... get the shift complete
Put the truck back into D .... Nothing ... shift back into N let it roll a couple feet ... still nothing when placed into P, D, R, or M just grinds away slams back into gear.

This just started to be the norm. Otherwise the the shifting has been flawless with very little noise ...

Following up ... got the truck into the dealer. Shop technician attempted to shift the truck from 2hi to 4hi & 4low to verify my claim. Long story short I have a bad transfer case ... looks like its going to be 2 weeks before I get the truck back. Bummer !

31k and getting a new Transfer case
