Before I had trouble starting the truck from inside the house with the truck parked in the driveway. To test the fix it I parked the truck in the garage with the door open and walked to the end of my bay. As I walked I started and stopped it a few times. It worked every time. I got to the end of my bay when it finally ran out of range. Probably 8 houses away. Maybe 200-250 feet or so. So yes the range is MUCH better. Maybe not what the 200 series or an aftermarket system but it is MUCH improved! Not bad for the price.

I checked with the dealer about covering it under warranty if I had installed the remote start myself. They said no. Ford would only cover it if the remote start was installed by the dealer before I took possession of the truck.
Well I'll be calling my dealer since it was factory installed to see what they say.

I found this link for the TSB, it should be covered since mine won't start from 66 feet. http://oemdtc.com/8806/poor-remote-s...014-ford-f-150

"WARRANTY STATUS

Good to hear others with improved range as well. I took a leap of faith just to try it out and it is most definitely a win win win for ease of install, out of pocket cost and improved functionality, more so if you can get Ford to foot the bill.

No idea what Ford was thinking putting the thing so low in the dash like they did.

Just a quick update and range check, in the pic below I am were the circle is (bottom left) and my truck where the arrow is (top right), remote started no problem. If I had to guestimate how far I'd say at least 150 yards and a 4 story building between me and the truck.

The antenna up higher makes all the difference.

Just ordered one off eBay for $21.62 shipped. Looking forward to the increased range.

Ok I just installed this on my 2012 it hooked up no problem. Will have to see if the range issue is better tomorrow. Hoping this will fix the poor remote start reliability.

The only time I had reliability issues was when I left my dash cam's turned on. With them on I had to stand 10' from the truck for it to work at times.

Just make sure you don't leave any accessories on such as a cell phone charger, radar detector, dash cam, etc...

Did this a month ago and it made a huge difference. Finally I can start my truck from my office. Thanks for the tip.
