Default 2012 Tight Steering???

I have a 2012 FX4 5.0 V8

Starting today I seem to be experiencing "tight" steering. When at a standstill...say parking the truck or pulling out of driveway from stop... not while driving but I have TIGHT steering. Does not turn like I have NO steering assistance but its tighter to turn the wheel. Like 50% between normal and when you have full assist??

I do have a check engine code I will have to check but I thought it was due to my lower radiator hose was just replaced and I didnt get the Radiator side on good enough and came off and overheated truck. Got that fixed but again I should check that check engine code as I thought it was there from the overheat condition as that seems to be when i came on.

I will check that and report back but it makes me wonder about my epas and something is going on with that??

wondering if anyone has has experienced that at all before. its not like I have no power assist as not like turning the wheel sitting still before power steering days but.......

Thanks all

I have 196k miles and its running good so wanna keep it going??

T

yes as I thought the codes here overheat codes for when it overheated from the hose detachment

no other codes related to steering, no track off or steering lights and no ill feedback from the steering wheel as far as shakes or rattles or any ill feedback at all

Found this on another post, it can’t hurt.

”Give the u-joint on your steering shaft a good spray lube. Easily accessible underhood. Fixed my same problem.”’

If it’s not that, you may have an expensive rack replacement in your future.
