Question 2012 FX4 Daytime Running Lights ?

I have been told by 3 different dealers that if you didn't get the DRL option when purchased, then it cannot be "turned on" later.

If I am correct, you can access this function via the Ford diagnostic computer hooked to the Body Control Module.

Are they just being obtuse or can this not be turned on after the fact?

Well, when us Canadians buy a truck out of the states, which some do....we just take it to the dealer and get them turned on. Sometimes they have to put in a module thingy....some I think they just do with their equipment. Either way, you can get them turned on. As far as I know.

My '11 had them turned on in the vehicle system before I picked it up.

We have shipped alot of Limited and Raptors to Canada, and before doing so, had to make the DRL work. I haven't done a 12, but on the older ones you can go into the as built data in the PCM (using IDS) and manually change a line to make the DRL work. Trouble is finding what code and put on what line. Same situation on the many Boss's we have sent up there
