2012 Ford vs 2012 Ram
My father owns a 2012 Ram 3500 diesel and needed me to take it on a 500 mile trip. I had driven it before, but never had this much seat time.
First off, I will not compare ride as that would be completely unfair. I will say for a tonner dually it rides pretty good. Although my father and I attribute a fair amount if this to the 2 ply sidewall LT rated tires. Nice for ride but not good at handling his 30ft toy hauler.
Interior room is noticeably smaller. Our F150 has a booster seat on passenger side rear and reverse facing baby seat behind driver seat. At nearly 6'4" we have plenty of room behind seat with my seat in my driving position. Not so in the Ram. I had to move the forward from my 5'9" fathers seating position to put in the baby seat. This led to my knees being too close to the Ram dash for my comfort. Entry into the Ram was also more difficult. The slope of the cab made normal butt first entry a literal pain in the neck. Fit and finish was on par but info center and radio were less user friendly.
Observed MPG was 13.5 at 72 with an average price of 3.839. Today I set the cruise on the 150 and averaged 17.5 at 72 with a price of 3.319.
