Default 2012 ford f150

Hello everyone. New to the site and just want to get some inside info. I’m looking to purchase a 2012 f150 with the 5.0 with 62000 miles. Are there any common issues that I need to look for. Any info would be greatly appreciated

Serious on the miles? That's potentially very nice. I'm betting that isn't exactly cheap. There's a lot of maintenance that hasn't even really come due, yet. Although it might be worth doing some of that due to years age even though miles age is low. (belts, fluids, etc)

Watch out for normal issues on any 10+ year old vehicle like rust, undisclosed crashes, misuse, etc.

The biggest common issue is a leadframe failure in the transmission. Search around for that topic, we've got volumes already written on it. Odds are pretty small it would show up while you are test driving, but it would be worth asking about to see if they know if it has been replaced.

You didn't give much info. Post a link, people love looking at them and giving their $.02.

*Electric steering rack (EPAS)
*Those motors eat water pumps
*Various coolant leaks from about every hose possible
*Transmission has a recall for sudden downshift to 1st
*Probaly forgetting some stuff but other than that it’s a great example of automotive engineering

One owner clean truck? Had my 2011 since new, different engine w/190k now. Would expect little to nothing wrong with one at 62k. Besides checking for engine codes and normal stuff here are few things to look for:

Heater temperature actuator. Check by turning temperature **** both ways and listen for a repeated clicking from behind the dash.

Coolant specification changed from orange to yellow a couple years ago, that is easy to see in coolant reservoir.

These cabs leak. Inspect rear window slider gaskets for watertight integrity. Look at fuse box behind door in passenger kick box for water intrusion damage. Inspect CHMSL gasket, a leak might show up on headliner. A few have leaked into driver side footbox area from windshield and poor seals at firewall.

All engines the fuel pump fuse FU27 in the under hood fuse box is suspect to get hot and melt. There is a bulletin and kits to move it. Kits come with stickers to place on the box and in the owners manual.

Wiring to the doors flexes and breaks so check all door switch functions including particularly driver door speaker at lower volume.

If 4x4 read up on how front vacuum control hubs operate. Make sure this works plus listen for noise from hubs on acceleration and tight turns.

Look up “Pegasus kit” and T connector coolant leaks. Check those areas.

Inspect underhood air deflectors either side of the radiator. Original material used was poor quality and may be missing by now. Patterns to make replacements are in these forums.

If truck has a two piece driveline check center steady bearing and listen for noise from it on test drive.

I have a 2013 5.0 with 63000 miles I bought it new. I’ll let you know what I’ve had to handle. As others have mentioned the O rings in the coolant system fail and cause leaks when it’s colder out from the Y fitting near the thermostat and from the reservoir. I replaced the O rings and flushed the coolant. Fuse 27 is a common problem and will cause a crank no start condition. I’ve installed the relocation kit after it almost left me stranded. I had the steering rack go on me that cost 3k with some other assorted maintenance while they had it. The rockers started to rust from the suicide door latch. Had one side replaced. Third brake light leak had to replace the gasket. That’s about it. I’ve done regular maintenance myself or at the dealership and have not ran into to too many problems knock on wood.
