My truck came with lots of additional orange peel, but Ford says that it's normal. Mine has one small rock chip on the painted metal front bumper, but there are a bunch of chips on the bed around the tailgate that I haven't even used much.

Sadly, I must agree that the paint on these new F150s is pathetic, especially in light of the steep price Ford is asking. I doubt it's just a Ford thing, though. More like a "every single manufacturer nowadays" thing, while jacking the prices higher and higher through the roof.

I have more chips on my 2012 FX2 in three months than I have had on other trucks I have driven on these roads for years. This stuff is so thin and chips so easy. Now, with that said, that is really my only complaint in three months but I'm gonna have to fix these. Anybody recommend the best way to take care of these chips. I know I can get auto touch up paint but that stuff is so thin it's hard to make it look good.
Paint today is better than ever! Thin is good.....much tuffer than thick bodyshop paint jobs. My kept outside 01 Superduty paint looks brand new still. The paint on the new F150 is even better.

Than why do any repaints reduce value of auto? Factory paint in most cases..not all will hold up the longest.

Its mostly the accident that reduces the value of a vehicle, not so much the paint. Its the same stuff anyway. The stuff i use everyday is the same stuff they use in the factory.

It is not the paint. It is the enviroment it is applied. When I look at cars for my customers we look for variations in thickness.
