Default 2012 5.0L intermittent start issue.

Hello, guys.

This seems to be the place for some good feedback. I hope everyone has a happy new year..

I have a 2012 5.0L SCrew that has an intermittent issue.

In October the first symptom I saw was a yellow engine light. Code P0451 (EVAP Low Pressure)
A few days later leaving work, the engine would crank, but no start.
I pulled the fuel line by the fuel rail and found no fuel going to the injectors.
First simple diagnosis- Fuel Pump.
I got a ride home and the next day the truck started right up.

Two weeks later the truck died while i was on the way to work. After pulling over, crank no start.
Pulled it home with my friend and at home, crank no start.
Tried re-plugging everything in I could think of, crank no start.
Replaced the fuel pump. Crank no start.
Called a shop, had it towed. They informed me that
it looked like the BCM didn't recognize they keys. They reset all of the electronic control modules and the truck started right up. (Note: i did try both of my keys beforehand.) They charge me a minimal amount and I was back on the road.

10 days later, go out in the morning to get going, crank no start.
I tried re-plugging everything I could find, crank no start. I even tried both keys.
This time I called the dealer.
They informed me that it was the Fuel Pump Control Module. After replacement, started right up!
Maybe had nothing to do with the keys.....
So, happy the dealer fixed it.

3 weeks later, I start getting random P0451 codes.
2 weeks after that, the truck dies on the highway. Again after pulling over, crank no start.
I get it towed finish the weekend with the Girl Friends truck.
I go to the shop where it was towed to and tried starting, it started right up.

It is running with no codes at the moment, but now I'm afraid to go anywhere.

Any thoughts?

Have you checked fuse 27 under the hood? You have to remove the fuse and look for burnt contacts. If so Ford makes a fuse relocation kit that is fairly cheap and easy to do yourself if you are even slightly mechanically inclined. This is a well documented issue.

Do the fix anyway, even if it isn't burnt.

Not under warranty they won't. Of course, if you are willing to pay for it they will. But I would suggest buying the kit on eBay and just doing it yourself. It is good preventative maintenance.

What about also dealing with the code that it is throwing even though it is throwing it randomly?

If it is the fuse, the code should be solved.

missmy06, I meant DIY.

The fuse and socket aren't burnt, and power is going through the circuit. You think it could be the intermittent problem, or just covering bases?

What could throw P0451?

The fuel pump fuse is under size. You should do the Ford relocation mod anyway.

This very well might solve your problem.

Just from grins, without doing the mod, pop in a new fuse and see if it helps.
