Hi Guys -
Has anybody else had forever oil consumption?
My daughter was in the ICU back in Montana, so I topped the oil off here, and when I got to Billings (1100 miles)
I didn't have to check it, I just pour in a Qt, and when I got home I let it sit overnight, and caregully topped it off and it took
almost all of a quart.
My 2011 XLT 5.0 has 204,900 miles on it, and it's used a quart per 1200 since forever.
Many years ago, I took t to the dealer and complained, they checked it, rechecked it, and told me
as long as it wasn't worse that a Qt per 1000 miles that it was within spec.
What do you suppose they did at the factory? Not stagger the gaps on a few oil scraper rings, or what?

Mine only uses about 1/2 QT per 1000 miles and actually seems to do better on the highway than in town. Truck has Nov. 2010 build date and I have had the cylinder knock since about 60K and now have 200K. Had about 30K when I bought it and everything I read back then said the 5.0 was designed to use a little oil. Nobody ever clarified what a "little bit" was. Since I rarely get the below freezing winter I use 5-30 instead of the 5-20, maybe it helps.
215,000. I seldom check, but every time I do it's still in the hash marks. Maybe I'll remember to check occasionally this oci. I also sent in a sample to Blackstone for the first time ever. Just to see what they say.
